decades

Queries

My hunt says "read 300, kept 0"

It is working; the question is wrong. Three hundred listings matched your words and none of them were from the decades you ticked. Usually the words are too modern — a phrase that mostly returns new-made items will keep returning new-made items. Try the material or the maker rather than the object, add older decades, or drop the price ceiling if you set one. More on the ratio.

Why not just filter by decade like the website does?

Because the API cannot. Etsy's listing search takes keywords, prices, a category, and a shop country — and nothing about eras. The website's Vintage facets are not exposed. So the reading happens first and the filtering happens after, here.

Something in my email had already sold

Expected, and the reason this exists. Vintage is one of a kind: quantity one, sold once, gone. We look every six hours; a piece can be listed and sold between two looks and you will never hear about it at all.

A listing is on my page but never emailed me

A listing is news exactly once — the first time we see it. If it was created before the newest thing we had already reported, it counts as old even if it only surfaced now, because something above it sold. It is on the page; it just does not send mail.

Is this thing really from the 1960s?

We do not know, and neither does Etsy. The era is what the seller chose when they listed it. A reproduction tagged 1960s will show up in a 1960s hunt. Every find links straight through so you can judge it where the photographs are.

Why is 2007–2009 not marked vintage?

Etsy's rule is twenty years, so in 2026 the line sits at 2006. In 2030 that era will be vintage without anything about it changing. We only mark an era when all of it is old enough. The full table.

Can I hunt without picking a decade?

No, and that is the entire product. Without a decade this would be a keyword alert, which plenty of things already do. The decade is the filter Etsy's API will not give you.

How do I stop everything?

Account → Close and erase. Immediate, and it takes the hunts with it. To keep the hunts running but stop the email, turn mail off on the same page.
